The Trials
The Continental Sheepdog Championship a co-operation of Working Sheepdog Societies of Europe
The Trials
The championship consist of 3 days of qualifying runs.
The best 6 dogs of each qualifying days then run the finals on the 4th. day.
The qualifying runs consist of a standard single course with : Gathering, Driving, Shedding, Penning and Single sheep.
The scale of points are - Outrun (20); Lifting (10); Fetching (20); Driving (30); Shedding (10); Penning (10); Single (10); TOTAL 110.
The the length of the outrun, should be aimed for minimal 400 Meters and the lenght of the driving should also be 400 Meters
The runs will be with 5 sheep (two marked sheep, three unmarked) through a set of fetch gate and two set of driving gates into a marked ring where the shedding and the single will take place and a pen.
The final runs consist of a doubble gather course with : Two gatherings, Driving, international Shedding and Penning .
The scale of points are - 1st. Outrun (20); 1st. Lifting (10); 1st. Fetching (20); 2nd. Outrun (20); 2nd.Lifting (10); 2nd.Fetching (20); Driving (40); Shedding (20); Penning (10); TOTAL 170.
Distance of the gathering can be up to 800 Meters for one lot of 10 sheep (if possible unseen by the dog), and the lenght of the driving should be 550 Meters.
The runs will be with two lots of 10 sheep each (one lot with five marked sheep). First lot shall be brought through a set of fetch gates and set off. Then the dog shall be turned back to gather the second lot of sheep also to be brought througt a set of fetch gates. Then the two lots shall be uniteded and driven through two set of driving gates into a marked ring where the international shedding will take place. After shedding the unmarked sheep off, the marked sheep shall be brought into a pen.
